"The Guardian" is an 8" x 10" art print based on one of my coloured pencil originals. It is mounted on a 3/8" wooden stretcher bar and is gallery-wrapped, meaning the image also bleeds onto the sides. This is the type of mounting used in high-end museums and galleries all around the world. This is part of a limited-edition print run and all prints are numbered and include the Certificate of Authenticity.

I originally painted this image from my own reference photo of one of our own shop employees, Lieutenant Castillo. (See shop members for a better photo of this piebald fool.) 
 

I developed a completely original technique where I use standard Prismacolour Premiere coloured pencils to emulate a watercolour effect, since my attempt to learn actual watercolours was a dumpster fire. To my knowledge, I am the only one on earth to do this very unique and loose technique, which is quite a departure from my normal hyperrealism and photorealism. Each year, it gains more and more notoriety and is quickly becoming my signature painting style.
 

The Lieutenant (named off the way cool and hard-as-stone yet soft and squishy character on Miami Vice played by the indomitable Edward James Olmos) loves to sit in this window and survey his kingdom, mostly comprised of field mice, chipmunks, my baby raccoons that eat Fruit Loops from my hand, and most recently, the infamous "Titmice Taunters" bird gang. You can almost see them mocking him in the window and how he can't get to them. He was rescued from the parking lot of my University housing in 2017, and when they gave me the ultimatum to have him put down or move, well, that was a no-brainer: I immediately moved! He had never once been inside and I remember him being so scared of the TV. Now, he is fully bonded to his brubbie, Yumyum, and they share many wonderful "adbentures" togedders, including sleeping in a pile with me at night. He is THE most grateful kitty I have ever rescued. To date, it is still my bestseller and most popular at art shows.
